Daylight Block

IVI Daylight Block reduces potato greening during storage by decreasing visible light transmission into the storage building that comes through exhaust and return-air openings. Daylight Block is sized and shaped to closely interfit within the frame, which is installed over the exhaust and return openings, preferably inside the storage building. The Daylight Block houses special panels made of opaque, non-reflective, and ultraviolet light-resistant PVC containing free-flowing, air-permeable, and multicell passageways. The passageways are constructed in such an offset manner that a linear path for light does not exist, eliminating the need for exhaust hoods to control light passage.

  • Decreases visible light transmission into storage building
  • Reduces potato greening
  • Eliminates need for exhaust hoods to control light passage

Increases Profits

Protects agricultural products from exposure to sunlight, which eliminates greening and reduces losses.

Versatile

Interfits within a frame, which is installed over the louvers inside a storage building.

Allows Extended Cycles

Exhaust louvers can be opened for cycles lasting from as long as 12 to 24 hours, protecting crops from exposure to light.

Eliminates Need for Shade Hoods

Decreases the likelihood of ice formation and dirt build up on the building louvers.

Rugged Construction

Panels are made of opaque, non-reflective polyvinyl chloride that is ultraviolet and light-resistant.
